Maemo platform, live
Jan. 5th, 2010 07:17 pmAfter a short while... I wish something like Nokia N900 would become my next cell-phone. It's not an iPhone killer, it's just Nokia, the way I like it. Thank you
bahaltener for exposing me to some good stuff about this device. And – it's the first Maemo phone.
With additional apps the phone will get lots of useful features, like any smartphone does. For instance, with the UKeyboard app, the phone's language capabilities will expand to Hebrew, Belarusian and some other keyboard layouts. The connector is micro USB, not a proprietary one (at last!). It runs on a powerful BL-5J battery, the one my old good E61 used to work on.
If only it additionally supported American 3G frequencies (850/1900 MHz). BTW, I don't quite understand what's that 1700 MHz frequency used for... To the best of my knowledge, the European 3G is 900/2100 MHz.
I hope that by the time I am gonna get a new phone (maybe in a couple years) Nokia will come up with something even better than this one, but definitely a Maemo / Linux device.
