It has just come to my mind that translating is not by chance a very Jewsh occupation. It is essentially about the millenial life circumstances of the Jewish life per se. An urge to translate from Loshn Keydesh to an everyday language of a given community, both in rabbonim's sermons and study in yeshivas; an urge to protect themselves in Diaspora before the mighty religious rulers of Europe who would put a discussion with the rabbonim as a sort of bet on the community members' security or even lives. And these are just very basic and very few examples. To be thought over and continued.
Another plot: prophet Elijah in the market place.
