3. Händel's music with a clarinetist in the background. Or foreground? Historically, the clarinet did not come into the wide musical practice before Mozart and the Mannheim composers. But the history (or a story) can be non-linear, too, as we know it from the Torah. So, both ways (with background and foreground functions for the clarinetist) will work. Another commentary here can be this: behind every musical work there stands a live musician. An ethnomusicologist's view, if you like.
