Interesting. Myself, I wouldn't have tagged it funny, but that may be the different perspective of having or not having a conservatory education.
When I was a guest at Columbia Computer Music, a conservatory trained daughter of a famous (and wealthy) writer said "Oh - you're SO lucky you never went to conservatory!". I refrained from spitting and cursing.
I disagree with L and S. L - "compose alone". In my computer music years, my best stuff was done sitting in a room with other composers. When the hardware got cheap enough we all went off by ourselves, it got less interesting.
And S - "never throw anything away"? You must! Not too soon; but you can't keep boxes of old crap around like that. None of us is so precious or brilliant.
It's funny how I mostly gave up composing. Playing and singing is more fun, and I can play things out of my head if I like (which may mean that the conservatory lady was right...that I *am* lucky I never went to conservatory).
