Today 't was my first day at the FB office. When I entered the premises, I heard Itzy Firestone giggling, "I have my photo in the Times' obituary." I obviously wondered what that was supposed to mean. Itzy showed me Mina Bern's obituary in The New York Times accompanied by a photo from a 2000 show with him standing right to Mina. In today's Times, there's another article about the late Mina Bern, Z"L, Kvelling Over a Matriarch of the Yiddish Theater by Corey Kilgannon. Truly a decent tribute to the great actor and person. In the old generation Yiddish actors' world, there are only two actors alive now, Fyvush Finkel and Shifra Lerer, may they live till 120.
